CourseCompass is flexible. You can organize your content in whatever content areas you choose, such as Course Documents, Course Information, External Links, and Assignments.
To customize your course, you can use the following content types:
An item is any discrete piece of content stored by CourseCompass. Items are useful when working with a syllabus, course project, or lecture notes. You can add an item to a folder, or you can add an item to a learning unit.
A folder is a container in which you can group multiple course content types. For example, you can create folders to store items of the same type, such as quizzes, or items submitted by individual students. You can place folders within folders (but not within learning units).
An external link is a link to a website outside CourseCompass. You can link to your school's website or another educational website from any content area.
A course link allows you to link directly from one content area to another in your course.
A learning unit is a set of course items and files you want to present to students as a group. You can allow students to explore these items at will, or you can specify a linear progression through them.
A test is an online evaluation that can be used to measure a student's understanding of the course material. A survey is also an online evaluation, but it is not graded.
A TestGen test is created in the offline TestGen application. You can upload TestGen tests into CourseCompass to use as part of your course.
An assignment lets you assign and manage written work, such as an essay or term paper, for your students to complete and return to you for grading. You can pick up the completed assignment in the gradebook, review and grade it, then return it with your comments to students.
