Integrating customized materials into an upgraded course

After you upgrade a customized course, you must move the customized materials from the previous course into content areas in the new course; otherwise, these materials will not be visible to your students.

Note: For information on copying customized materials, see About customized materials.

To integrate the customized materials:

  1. Click the course name on the My CourseCompass page.

  2. Click Control Panel.

  3. Under Content Areas, click an area, such as Course Documents, in which you made customizations in the old edition course.

  4. Find the folder for the customizations in that area.

  5. In all areas except Assessments and Announcements, the folder appears at the bottom of the list when you open the area. Look for a folder with this title: Copied from [old course ID].

  6. In the Assessments area, copied assessments appear individually at the top of the Assessment/Test Manager list with the title Copied from [old course ID]: [assessment name].

  7. In the Announcements area, permanent announcements appear at the top of the page and nonpermanent announcements appear at the bottom. Copied announcements look like this: Copied from [old course ID]: [announcement name].

  1. Within the customizations folder, select a component, and do any of the following:

  2. Move the folder, item, or learning unit out of the customizations folder. You can move the course component to a different area of the course or select the same area, such as Course Documents.

  3. Modify the folder, item, or learning unit. Use the modify option to rename a component. Be sure to move the modified component out of the customizations folder as well.

  4. Remove the folder, item, or learning unit.

  5. For tests or surveys, make the test or survey available and place it in the right course area. Within a course area, you can put the test in a folder or learning unit.

  1. Repeat step 5 for all components in the customizations folder for that course area.

  2. Repeat steps 3–6 for all course areas in which you had customized materials in the old course.
