Setting up courses>>Creating & upgrading courses
Multisemester courses typically use the same textbook over two or more semesters. CourseCompass makes it easy for students to sign up for a follow-on semester of a multisemester course without getting another student access code.
Here is how the process works:
The instructor for the first semester creates a course and gives students the course ID.
Students register for and complete the course.
The instructor for the follow-on semester creates a course using the same textbook and gives students the course ID.
Students sign up for the follow-on course by clicking:
Enroll in Another Course in the Courses area.
Details next to any course in the Courses area, then clicking Enroll in Another Course.
Account Summary in the top-right corner, then clicking Enroll in Another Course.
Notes:
No performance data from the gradebook carries over to the follow-on semester because the follow-on semester course is a new course.
It does not matter if the instructors are different in the different semesters of the course.
To use materials from the completed semester in the follow-on semester, create the follow-on semester's course by copying your own course or the course of the instructor who taught the completed semester.
The course materials must be exactly the same. For example, if the instructor of the follow-on course selects a different edition of the textbook or course materials with an eBook whereas the completed course did not use an eBook, CourseCompass would not recognize the materials as matching.
