Setting up courses>>Managing courses
If you are teaching a foreign language course, you may want to enter special characters in your CourseCompass course content. Depending on the course materials you selected when you created your course, a special character set may already be available in your course.
CourseCompass provides the following special character palettes: French, German, Italian, or Spanish. Instructors can add or change the special character palette for each CourseCompass course.
When you set a special character palette to be available for your course, it will be available to both you and your students in the following CourseCompass areas: course home page, Announcements, Calendar, Staff Information, Tasks, Discussion Boards, Digital Dropbox, Course Menu, Multiple fill-in-the-blank assessments, Gradebook Items, and Group names and descriptions.
To specify a special character palette for your course:
In the Courses area on the My CourseCompass page, click Details next to the name of the course you want to modify.
Click Course Settings.
Click Special Character Palette.
Select the character set you want to make available for your course. For example, select Spanish if you are teaching a Spanish course that may require students to answer test questions with accented Spanish characters.
Click Submit, then click OK.
When CourseCompass text fields allow special characters, you will see a special character button to the right of the text box. This is an example of the special character box on the course home page:
