You have the option of setting dates for when content is available to students. You can set a Display After date and time, a Display Until date and time, or both. The display settings only take effect after you set the Do you want to make the content visible? option to Yes.
If you set neither Display option, the content becomes available immediately and stays available indefinitely.
If you set only the Display After option, the content will become available after the date and time specified and will remain available indefinitely. For example, you may want to add all assignments to the course at one time but make them available to students according to a schedule.
If you set only the Display Until option, the content is available immediately but stays available only until the date and time you specify. For example, you may want to enforce a due date for a project.
If you set both the Display After and Display Until options, the content is available for the period between the two dates and times. To give a one-hour test on October 3, 2003, you could specify a Display After date and time of October 3, 2006, at 1:00 PM and a Display Until date and time of October 3, 2006, at 2:00 PM.
Here are some key points to understand about assessment visibility and availability:
Be sure to set the Do you want to make the content visible? option to Yes before specifying display dates. The Display options do not take effect until this option is enabled.
Be sure to check the box to the left of the Display After and Display Until options as well as selecting a date and time. Otherwise, the date and time you select will be ignored.
Before the availability date has arrived, a message appears below the content link on the content area page in the Control Panel. For example, the message could read, Item is not available until after Friday Sep 12 13:00.
When the content's availability has expired, a message appears below the content link on the content area page in the Control Panel. For example, the message could read, Item is no longer available. It was last available Tue Sep 16 20:55.
CourseCompass uses the Eastern time zone (US and Canada), which is equivalent to GMT -5:00. To set visibility time ranges, you need to calculate any difference in time zones, depending on your location.
