Customizing courses>>Organizing course content
You can modify an existing content area, tool, course link, or external link by changing its name and availability.
Note: For information on how to add content to a content area, see Adding course content.
To modify a course area or link:
Click the course name on the My CourseCompass page.
Click Control Panel.
Click Manage Course Menu under Course Options.
This page lists the current set of content areas, tools areas, course links, and external links for the course. Next to each area are buttons to modify and remove the area from the course.
Click Modify next to the course area, course link, or external link you want to change.
Modify any or all of the following fields:
Select or enter a new name. Changing the name also changes the label that appears on the button in the course menu.
(Course link only) Change the course area to which the link refers. Click Browse and select a new location from the course map that appears in the pop-up window.
(External link only) Modify the URL or enter a new one. Be sure to include the http:// prefix.
(External link only) Select or deselect Launch in a new window to indicate whether the website should open in a separate browser window. By default, this option is not selected.
(Tool link only) If you modify the default Tools or Communication area, or if you modify a Tools or Communication area you added to the course, you can disable or re-enable tools listed in that area by deselecting or selecting the box to the right of the tool. For e-mail, you can also disable or re-enable established recipient groups.
(Optional) Select or deselect Available for Student/Participant users to modify the availability of the area or link. By default, this option is selected so the area or link is available to students.
Click Submit, then click OK.
The course area or link is updated. If you modified the area or link name or availability, the course menu is updated as well.
