In the CourseCompass environment, anyone who registers is a user. Each user has a role: student, instructor, or section instructor. Some users may have more than one role. For example, a person might be taking several courses and also be a Section Instructor in one.
Students who enroll in your course are listed as users of the course. As the instructor, you are also a user of the course.
From the User Management area of the Control Panel, you can:

Establish study groups
Set up teams for short- or long-term projects
Divide the class into sections
You can assign different functions to these groups to suit their needs. For example, the study groups you plan to create may need group Discussion Boards and file exchange functions but not the Virtual Classroom.
Notes:
You can add users to groups, but not to CourseCompass itself. Similarly, you can remove users from groups, but not from CourseCompass.
Only the CourseCompass registration process can add users. Instructors, section instructors, and students register at http://www.coursecompass.com.
