Using course tools>>Discussion Board>>Participating in forums
The CourseCompass Discussion Board allows instructors and students to communicate at different times about course-related issues, organized in strings of messages known as threads. You can add equations to Discussion Board threads.
To add a Discussion Board thread with an equation:
Click the course name on the My CourseCompass page.
Do one of the following:
Click Communication in the course menu, then click Discussion Board.
Click Control Panel, then click Discussion Board under Course Tools.
Click the title of the Discussion Board forum you want to enter.
Click Add New Thread.
Enter a subject and type your message, then click one of the equation-editing buttons:
Insert Equation lets you create or edit an equation using an editor where you pick equation components from menus that contain mathematical symbols and operators. Click Add to add the equation to the Discussion Board thread.
Insert MathML
lets you create or edit an equation using MathML (an XML-based mathematical
markup language). Type in a name for the new equation, then enter MathML
tags in the text box. Click Add
to add the equation to the Discussion Board thread.
Note: For information about using MathML tags, consult a MathML reference, or visit the MathML home page at the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) site (http://www.w3.org/Math/).
Tip: If you name an equation, you can reuse it in the current content area. To name an equation, create it, type a name in the Equation Name box, then click Add to save the equation and add it to the Discussion Board thread. To reuse the equation, select the equation name in the equation editor's Edit Equation box, then click Add to add the equation to the Discussion Board thread.
Click Submit to add the thread to the forum.
Note: Both equation editors
appear in pop-up windows. If the equation editors do not appear when you
click an equation editor icon, turn off your browser's pop-up blocker.
