Using course tools

CourseCompass includes a variety of tools that enable communication and collaboration in the online environment. Students use these tools by clicking Communication or Tools in the course menu.

You can view, add, modify, and delete these tools in your course from the Course Tools area in the Control Panel:

• Announcements

• Calendar

• Staff information

• Tasks

• Discussion Board forums

You can also:

• Communicate in real-time using the Virtual Classroom and Chat collaboration tools

• Divide your class into groups

• Send messages to students and section instructors

• View the class roster

• Send e-mail to students and section instructors

• Add files to and pick up files from the Digital Dropbox

• Create a course glossary

By clicking Tools in the course menu, you can also access the Address Book and The Electric Blackboard, which allows you to take notes in CourseCompass.

Note: Although links appear for Edit Your Homepage and View Grades, these tools are for students only. In CourseCompass, instructors create staff profiles instead of homepages. Additionally, instructors view grades for the entire class through the gradebook.
