Assessing student work>>Creating assessments
A new version of your CourseCompass course may be available if revised or enhanced content for the same edition of the same textbook becomes available. In addition, CourseCompass regularly creates new courses for textbooks as new editions of the books are published. You can copy your existing course to a new version or edition while preserving much of the custom work you built into your existing course. The updated copy of the course has a new course ID and a clean gradebook. You can modify or remove your custom material, including assessments, in the copied course as needed to correlate with the new version or edition.
Assessments you deployed in the original course are removed from the content areas. However, all customized assessments, including TestGen tests, are preserved in the Assessments area (for example, in Test Manager).
To integrate your assessments to a new version or edition of the course
Create a course from the new edition or version. Be sure to select Assessments & Pools as components you want to copy into the new edition course.
When the new course appears on the My CourseCompass page, click its name.
(Optional) Explore the new course materials to determine how to use customized tests from the old edition.
Click Control Panel.
Under Assessment, click the link for the assessment manager you want to work with, for example, Assessment/Test Manager.
Locate the customized assessments at the bottom of the list. Each old edition assessment has the prefix Copied from old course ID, for example, Copied from stein24013: Unit 5 Test.
(Optional) Modify the assessment to change its name, options, or questions.
(Optional) Add assessments to content areas and make the assessments available, as needed.
Note: Custom folders and learning units you created in content areas are copied from the original course and labeled with a Copied from prefix. You can make these available and add assessments to them.
(Optional) Remove assessments from the course if you no longer want them.
Caution: When you remove an assessment from a course, the assessment is permanently deleted.
Note: Assessments that were deployed to folders or learning units in the old edition course are removed from those folders and learning units when they are copied to the new course. All copied tests are reset as unavailable in the new course.
