Assessing student work>>Creating assessments
While you are creating or modifying an assessment, you can view the question text, answers, and feedback on the assessment’s Canvas page. However, you may want to preview the assessment to see it exactly as the students will when they take and then review it.
As you preview the assessment, you can make sure you want to use any assessment options you set. For example, you may have set the presentation mode to display a single question at a time. Or you may have set the feedback option to allow students to see their answers and final score, but not the correct answers when they review their tests.
Note: Before you can preview an assessment, you must add it to a content area. You can, however, preview a TestGen test from the TestGen Manager, regardless of whether it has been added to a content area.
To preview an assessment:
Click the course name on the My CourseCompass page.
Do one of the following:
Click the button in the course menu for the content area where you placed the assessment, for example, Assignments.
Click Control Panel, then click the content area where you placed the assessment, for example, Assignments.
Click the assessment name link. (For TestGen tests, click the here link to take the test.)
Click OK to take (preview) the assessment. (For TestGen tests, read the on-screen instructions and click Take Test.)
Do one of the following:
Complete the questions and click Submit to open the results page. If you complete only some of the answers in the assessment, CourseCompass prompts you to complete the remaining questions or submit the incomplete test. CourseCompass displays your results with the level of review information you selected when you set assessment options. Your results, however, are not recorded in the gradebook.
Navigate through the questions to preview but not answer them. When you have finished previewing the questions, click any link at the top of the page to return to another area of CourseCompass, such as the Control Panel.
Click Save to save your answers.
