Assessing student work>>Making assessments available
Before you can make an assessment available to students, you must deploy it. In other words, you must add it to a content area. Once you have deployed the assessment, you can modify assessment options, such as making the assessment available to students, setting a time limit for taking the assessment, and specifying the level of feedback students receive when they review their assessment.
Note: You can also add a TestGen test to a content area and make the test available to students.
This procedure assumes you have already created the assessment or added a publisher-provided test to your course.
To add an assessment to a content area:
Click the course name on the My CourseCompass page.
Click Control Panel.
Under Content Areas, click the link for the content area where you want to make the test available, for example, Course Documents or Assignments.
Navigate to the place in the content area where you want to add the test. For example, from Course Documents, navigate to a chapter folder to add a test for that chapter.
To add a test, click Test in the Add toolbar at the top of the page. To add a survey, select Survey from the drop-down list on the far right, then click GO.
Select a test from the Select an existing test from Test Manager list, or select a survey from the Select an existing survey from Test Manager list.
Note: Only tests and surveys that have not been deployed (added to a content area) are listed.
Click Submit, then click OK.
On the Modify Test page, select one of the following options:
Click Modify the Test or Modify the Survey to modify the descriptors or modify questions.
Click Modify the Test options or Modify the Survey options to modify options, including setting availability.
Click OK to return to the location where the test has been deployed. The added test appears last on the list.
Notes:
You can move an assessment to a different position in the item list on the page by selecting a different sequence number from the list to the left of the assessment. The page automatically refreshes and repositions the assessment according to the sequence number you selected.
To move an assessment from one content area to another, you must first remove the assessment from its current location and then follow the above procedure to deploy it to a new content area.
