About single and multiple assessment attempts

If you provide only one attempt for an assessment and a student experiences network or browser failure while taking the assessment or submitting the assignment, the student may not be able to complete the assessment until you clear the attempt.

You can avoid this situation by selecting Allow Multiple Attempts when you modify assessment options. You might enable multiple attempts for a limited amount of time, such as one day only.

Note: If allowing multiple attempts is not a viable option in your situation, present only one question at a time and prohibit backtracking. In this case, students should be able to return to finish an assessment even in the event of network or browser failure.
