Assessing student work

Using publisher-provided assessments

Most CourseCompass courses include publisher-provided tests you can use as is or modify before making them available to students. You can view publisher-provided tests in the Assessment/Test Manager. From there, you can view a list of publisher-provided tests (among any you have created or imported) and do the following tasks:

Note: Your course may also come with publisher-provided question pools you can use when you create assessments or modify existing ones. Any publisher-provided pools are located in the Pool Manager. Like preloaded tests, you can preview publisher-provided pools and modify them.

Readiness assessments

Some publisher-provided tests may be added to content areas by default. These types of tests are usually called "Readiness Assessments" and are intended for student practice. Typically, they can be taken multiple times so students can improve their score. As with other assessments, students’ results on practice tests are recorded in the gradebook.

To see whether any readiness assessments have been added to content areas in your course:

  1. Click the course name on the My CourseCompass page.

  2. Click Control Panel.

  3. Click Assessment/Test Manager in the Assessment area.

  4. Scroll the Deployed column to see whether any assessments have been added to content areas (other than ones you have deployed yourself). If they have, the name of the content area appears in the column.

You can change the default settings for practice tests in any of the following ways:
