Using the gradebook>>Weighting grades
You can assign relative weights to graded work in your course. For example, you may want to assign more weight to tests than to assignments in gradebook calculations. Or you may want certain tests (such as the mid-term and final exams) to have more weight than others (such as chapter tests). You can adjust gradebook weights by category or by item.
Note: For more information about weighting, see How grades are weighted.
Click the course name on the My CourseCompass page.
Click Control Panel.
Click Gradebook under Assessment.
Click Weight Grades.
Choose one of the following:
Weight by Category to weight grades for items based on the category they are assigned to. For example, all assignments will have the same weight and all exams will have the same weight.
Weight by Item to weight grades for each individual assessment or assignment. For example, you might assign different weights to a mid-term and final exam.
Important: If your entries do not add up to 100%, CourseCompass prompts you to modify them.
Enter a weight as a percentage in the box next to each category in use (if you are weighting by category) or next to each item (if you are weighting by item).
Click Submit, then click OK.
