Clearing assessment or assignment attempts

You may want to allow certain students to retake an assessment or resubmit an assignment. The gradebook lets you clear a student's attempt on a TestGen test, assessment, or assignment so that the student's current grade value or symbol and any information associated with the student's original attempt (test question responses, for example) are cleared from the gradebook.

To clear a student's attempt at a TestGen test, assessment, or assignment:

1. Click the course name on the My CourseCompass page.

2. Click Control Panel.

3. Click Gradebook under Assessment.

4. Click the student's grade for the TestGen test, assignment, or assessment.

5. Click View at the far right of the page.

Note: View does not appear if the student has not begun the assessment or assignment or if you have removed the assessment or assignment from the content area where it was deployed. Removing a gradebook item in this manner removes all student attempts, even when you choose to retain the item in the gradebook.

6. Click Clear or Clear Attempt, then click OK either once or twice (as prompted).

In spreadsheet view, a - (hyphen) appears instead of the previous grade value or symbol, indicating that the student has not begun the assessment, or assignment.
