Self-assessment surveys enable you to deliver surveys to students that, while they have points associated with their answers, protect the anonymity of student responses. Self-assessment surveys provide you with statistical analysis of anonymous surveys on a question-by-question basis. And, because the survey responses are anonymous, they can reveal what students are thinking and feeling about sensitive subjects.
Self-assessment surveys you have made available are listed in the gradebook. You can view the distribution of student responses to self-assessment survey questions from a gradebook view. The gradebook displays symbols that convey the status of a self-assessment survey:
Here are the basic steps for creating a self-assessment survey and making it available to students:
Click Self-Assessment Survey Manager in the Assessment area of the Control Panel.
Click Add Self-Assessment Survey.
Enter a name, a description, and instructions for your students.
Define the survey's format - No Sections or Multi-Section.
Add sections (if applicable) and create feedback.
Select a question type.
Enter the question text.
Provide answers where appropriate. For example, you provide answers for a multiple-choice question.
Save the self-assessment survey.
Make the self-assessment survey available to students by adding it to a content area.
Set survey-taking options to specify availability and define the allowed number of student attempts.
