Short Answer questions allow you to limit the length of the Student's response by defining the number of rows that will appear in the Answer field of a self-assessment survey.
Short answer questions do not have point values assigned and are not included in tallied scores; their purpose is for a student's own assessment.
Navigate to the Add/Modify Short Answer Question page from a self-assessment survey.

Enter question text in the Question Text textbox.
Use the Set the number of rows that will display in the answer field drop-down list to specify the number of rows that will appear in the Answer field of the self-assessment survey.
Click Submit. The question is created and you are returned to the Self-Assessment Survey Canvas.
