Access Codes

How do I get an access code so I can register?

Your new textbook contains an access code. The code might be inside the textbook or on a separate card packaged with the book. If you did not buy a new textbook, you may be able to purchase an access code separately from your bookstore. Access codes can be used only once.

You may also be able to buy course access online with a credit card or PayPal account when you register.

Note: If you are enrolling in another CourseCompass course based on the same textbook used in your current or previous course, you may not need to make a purchase. In the following cases, you need only a new course ID from your instructor:
  • You are switching to a different section of the same course.
  • You are retaking the same course.
  • You are enrolling in the next semester of a multisemester course.
If your course meets these criteria, enroll in the new course through the Pearson Account Summary. For directions, see Getting Started.

What should I do if I need an access code for a multisemester course?

In general, multisemester courses use the same textbook throughout. Check with your instructor to see whether your next semester course uses the same online course materials as the previous semester. If it does, you do not need a new access code or payment to enroll. You can log in at Pearson Account Summary and click the Enroll in a Course button. Follow the on-screen instructions to enroll using the new course ID provided by your instructor.

If your second semester course materials do not match those for your previous course, you will need to purchase access. You can buy a new textbook, which will include an access code, or you may be able to buy an access code separately from your campus bookstore. You may also be able purchase access online during registration.

Need more help? See a detailed answer on the Pearson Customer Technical Support site.

What should I do if my access code has already been used?

Access codes can be used only once. If you already used your access code by registering and enrolling in your course, you can simply log in at www.coursecompass.com and begin using CourseCompass.

If you are enrolling in a subsequent semester of a multisemester course, you can enroll without an access code. Enroll in the new course through the Pearson Account Summary.

If you are enrolling in a new course in a different subject, you must provide a new access code or buy access online. For help, see Getting Started.
